3-star DT Kenneth Grant

Continuing with the theme of defensive tackles, Michigan football also seems to be in a strong position with three-star mammoth Kenneth Grant out of Indiana.

Grant is unraked in the 247 sports composite rankings but that doesn’t matter in terms of how badly the coaching staff wants his commitment. For one, Ohio State has offered and is still in the mix, as is Wisconsin.

But you know Ohio State doesn’t hand out offers for fun. If the Buckeyes would take his commitment, that tells you what kind of prospect Grant can be and at 6-foot-3, 335 pounds, he’s an absolute beast. He’s also criminally underrated.

At some point, that should change. But regardless of the ranking, this is a recruit that Michigan football desperately wants in the class. He visited multiple times over the summer and has said he would like to decide within the next two weeks.

Of course, if you follow the Michigan coaching staff, it’s pretty obvious they are happy about something according to this tweet from Coach Ryan Osborn.

While I’m fairly certain this has to do with one of the defensive line targets listed above, it’s hard to say which. The tweet was liked by Brice Marich of The Michigan Insider, who was in Indiana to cover Grant earlier this week…so maybe there is a connection.

It could easily mean Thomas who has received the most recent expert projection to the Wolverines. Grant has no expert predictions from 247 sports right now and one pick from Rivals for him to go to Ohio State.

We’ll see if that winds up being true, but it feels like Michigan has the momentum right now and if Grant decides this month, I like the Wolverines’ chances.
