3-Point Percentage: Caleb Houstan

This one was a toss-up for me. I had Eli Brooks as my pick but changed it to the freshman Caleb Houstan last second. I am in love with how Houstan plays the game of basketball. Everyone that has watched him knows that his shooting is his biggest weapon.

He was known as the best shooter in the 2021 recruiting class and has shown that elite shooting at every level he has played. But the calmness and smooth nature of his game is very noticeable. For someone his age, it’s incredible how he never seems rushed, and always seems in control.

It’s still unknown exactly what his usage will be in this offense as a freshman. But with Jones, Brooks, and Dickinson capable of handling a heavy workload, expect Houstan to settle into a role of mostly a jump shooter. If Michigan basketball can get him open looks, there’s no reason he can’t lead this team in 3-point percentage.

Prediction: 44%

Steals: DeVante’ Jones

Jones is a menace on defense. He led the country in steals a season ago and thrived on defense in the NBA Draft workouts and scrimmages that he participated in. Dickinson spoke recently on a live audio Spotify Greenroom interview with Ant Wright and talked about how Jones is always in the passing lanes and is always near the ball.

Expect Jones to be near the top of the country in steals yet again this season.

Prediction: 2.0 SPG
