Five-star target Keon Sabb will be announcing his commitment later today, plus the latest on a couple of Michigan football’s targets at defensive tackle.

When it comes to five-star safety Keon Sabb‘s decision, which will be announced Saturday, it’s hard to be optimistic as a Michigan football fan.

The Wolverines have definitely made a strong closing argument to Sabb and Michigan football has worked its way back into the mix after not making his final five.

However, finishing in the top two or three doesn’t mean much in recruiting and it’s looking like Michigan football’s efforts will fall short to Clemson.

The Tigers picked up a new crystal ball projection on Friday and then EJ Holland, the Michigan recruiting reporter for Rivals, also predicted Sabb would land with Clemson too.

To be fair, there hasn’t been a flood of crystal ball projections and it doesn’t seem as though Sabb has informed the parties involved who it will be. But I’d be shocked if it was Michigan, although it would be a reason for fans to rejoice because he’s a top-30 prospect overall.

Former LSU commit to visit

Shone Washington, a 6-foot-3, 295-pound defensive tackle once committed to LSU will be taking a visit to Michigan according to what EJ Holland reported on Friday.

Washington is ranked as the No. 460 prospect overall in 2022 according to the 247 sports composite rankings and he’s out of New Orleans. Ron Bellamy is from Louisiana and I expect he’s doing some work on Washington.

Georgia offered Washington in June and the Bulldogs are listed as “warm” on his 247 profile. Ole Miss is too and Washington actually visited the Rebels in June. He also visited Florida State.

Next up will be Michigan football who has a bunch of irons in the fire on the defensive line. Deone Walker is a top target and of course, Walter Nolen is also a priority.

Another defensive tackle on the radar is Kenneth Grant, who is 6-foot-4, 335 pounds. Grant is out of Indiana and while he’s not ranked in the 247 sports composite rankings, he’s listed as a three-star recruit and has a final three of Michigan, Wisconsin, and Ohio State.

Here’s what he told 247 sports about Michigan’s recruitment:

"“Michigan that’s a very family friendly program, they stress family hard. Coach (Shaun) Nua he brought me in and told me where I would play and how much playing time I would get. I’ve grown real close with him. I like their new defense for Michigan because if I were to go there it would get me to play a lot of other positions not just defensive tackle.”"

Grant said he was going to visit during the Big House BBQ later this month and that he could be making a decision soon after, which could be good news for the Wolverines.
