Looking ahead to the 2021 season, here’s a projection of Michigan football’s wide receiver depth chart.

Michigan football had a very talented wide receiver room last season, however, it did not translate to production on the field. Whether it was the result of inconsistent play from the quarterbacks and offensive line, questionable play-calling, and drops from the wide receivers themselves, Michigan could not get its passing attack on track.

The Wolverines ranked 44th in passing yards per game and 70th in yards per attempt last season. That is not good enough for a unit that wants to get its “speed in space” as much as possible. Of course, the Wolverines were missing star wide receiver Nico Collins, who opted out before the season began. Collins is off to the NFL, but the Wolverines still have a lot of talent left in their wide receiver room.

Michigan football added Daylen Baldwin who transferred in from Jackson State after a big spring season. Cornelius Johnson, A.J. Henning, and Roman Wilson were all four-star recruits. Incoming freshman Cristian Dixon was also a four-star and his fellow classmate Andrel Anthony was a three-star, who may end up proving his ranking was too low.

It was the former three-star Ronnie Bell who led the team in both receptions and receiving yards in the shortened season. Bell was on pace for 56 catches and 875 yards last season.

Now as the elder statesman in the wide receivers room, Bell is back and ready to lead the group in 2021. Here is how I think the depth chart will shake out in the fall.
