A top safety target is making a decision today and is trending in the other direction, but not all the crystal ball news is bad for Michigan football.

Following the visit of D’Arco Perkins-McCallister, there was plenty of optimism that Michigan football might be able to land the four-star safety out of Tennessee.

The Wolverines picked up a crystal ball prediction for the 2022 safety following his official visit to Ann Arbor. But other programs have been picking up steam and after he said he would be announcing his commitment on Saturday, TCU started trending with crystal ball picks.

You might be asking how Michigan football could miss out on a top target to TCU? Well, according to Steve Lorenz of The Michigan Insider (subscription required), there’s a chance that Perkins-McCallister could be turning into a 2021 enrollee for TCU after a re-classification, which has made them the favorite.

Since Perkins-McCallister starting trending to the Horned Frogs, it seems like that will be an option and that could be why the Wolverines don’t end up as the winner here.

Another target on the board in 2022 is committed to TCU and that’s edge rusher Joseph Adedire. The three-star recruit is out of Texas and ranked in the top 500 (431 overall) according to the 247 sports composite rankings.

Adedire was a target for the Wolverines but there are probably other edge rushers higher up on the board than him — Joshua Josephs — is one that comes to mind, so it’s not a reason to panic.

Another 2022 pass rusher projected to Michigan football

There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to Michigan’s linebacker/edge rusher recruiting in 2021 but one name that’s emerging as likely for the 2022 class is three-star linebacker, Micah Pollard.

Pollard is ranked 550th overall in the 2022 class according to the composite rankings and he’s out of Jacksonville, Florida. There was a lot of momentum when he visited Ann Arbor but then Auburn made a move and even picked up expert picks from Rivals and 247 sports.

Then, EJ Holland, the Michigan recruiting expert at Rivals, flipped his pick back to Michigan football earlier this week and on Saturday, a slew of 247 sports experts have followed suit.

Sam Webb and Steve Lorenz have changed their picks from Auburn to Michigan and it seems like Pollard could be one of the next recruits to join the class.

Pollard is listed at 6-foot-3, 200 pounds and he finished with 12 sacks last season, as well as 27 tackles for loss. He’s also a guy that’s capable of playing multiple linebacker positions, which is an added bonus along with his pass-rush ability.
