Another 5-star target?

Lively isn’t the only five-star big man that Michigan basketball is interested in and another who could get an offer relatively soon is Ernest Udeh, who just received a big bump in the 247 sports composite rankings for 2022.

Ranked as a four-star recruit still in the 247 composite rankings, Udeh is 56th overall, which is well ahead of where he was prior to the updated rankings (113th). But 247 sports own rankings for 2022 is where he made the real jump — going all the way up to No. 22 and earning a five-star rating.

"“(Udeh) made the highest debut of anybody in the rankings by coming in as a five-star at No. 22 overall,” 247Sports National Basketball Recruiting Analyst Dushawn London wrote. “Udeh is a big man with strength and athleticism who has really impressed with his ability to run the floor, rebound and protect the rim. He made huge improvements throughout the spring and is poised for a big summer.”"

The Wolverines also started showing interest in the middle of June, right when Udeh started taking off with some dominant performances.

In the month of June, Udeh received 13 offers including from Kansas, Illinois, Alabama, Texas Tech, Arkansas, Tennessee, Miami, and Indiana among others.

And with some top guys off the board for Michigan basketball, it would make sense for the Wolverines to offer Udeh and get into the mix.

Another name to know is that of three-star big man Dom Campbell. He’s 6-foot-8 out of New Hampshire but has offers from Boston College, Notre Dame, and UMass, as well as Penn State.

Michigan basketball also reportedly got involved recently in his recruitment and while the Wolverines haven’t extended an offer, it could put them at the top of Campbell’s list if they do.

South Carolina, Tennessee, and Oklahoma are also on the growing list of teams involved for the currently unranked prospect in the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s blown up with 11 offers from high-major programs since the end of May. Could Michigan join that list?

That’s a very good question pertaining to both Campbell and Udeh.
