Michigan football is hosting more key recruiting targets this week, with a top linebacker and quarterback among them.

It is safe to say that “Victors Weekend” was a success for Michigan football. The Wolverines have picked up two commitments so far from three-star running back CJ Stokes and three-star linebacker Aaron Alexander.

Crystal balls have also come in for three-star wide receiver Dillon Bell, three-star offensive tackle Alessandro Lorenzetti, and four-star D’Arco Perkins-McAllister. However, now that the Wolverines have recruiting momentum on their side, the good news is not stopping there.

Top LB target sets official visit

Four-star linebacker Sebastian Cheeks has long been one of Michigan’s top targets in the 2022 class. The Wolverines extended Cheeks his first scholarship offer back in April of 2020. However, it appeared that contact died down between the two sides during the coaching turnover on the defensive side of the ball.  Things have been rekindled as Cheeks is taking his official visit to Michigan today.

Getting Cheeks on campus is a big win for Michigan football as Cheeks was originally scheduled to visit Notre Dame this past weekend.

For a long time, Cheeks’ recruitment was pegged as a Michigan-Notre Dame battle. Notre Dame leads his crystal ball predictions. However, with the Fighting Irish having three linebacker commitments already, they could be out of room to take Cheeks.

Michigan could take advantage and pull into the driver’s seat to land Cheeks with an outstanding visit. Cheeks has already taken official visits to North Carolina (June 4th) and Texas (June 11th). He is ranked 127th overall in the 2022 class and 13th among linebackers according to the 247sports composite.

Michigan football host three-star QB

Michigan missed one of their top QB targets last Friday when Nate Johnson committed to Utah. However, the Wolverines have quickly pivoted and gotten another top target on campus in three-star Connor Harrell.

Harrell is not the runner that Johnson is, however, he is plenty mobile enough himself 4.5 forty time. He is also regarded as a better passer. Harrell is one of the Wolverines’ two remaining QB targets along with four-star QB Justyn Martin who remains committed to Cal.

Harrell is currently ranked as the 674th best prospect in the country and the 43rd best quarterback. Perhaps, the Wolverines will have clarity at the QB position soon if he makes a quick decision.

TE target set to visit

Michigan has been looking for another tight end to join Marlin Klein in its class. Top target Oscar Delp took his official to Michigan this past weekend and left with glowing reviews.

Another top target is three-star Jack Velling, who visited Michigan last weekend. There is another contender to the mix in Colston Loveland out of Idaho. Loveland was scheduled to visit Colorado this past weekend but he canceled that trip and will officially visit Michigan instead (subscription required).

Michigan football is a relatively new contender to Loveland’s recruitment, having extended a scholarship offer to him in April. Loveland has already taken three official visits to Arizona, Arizona State, and Oregon State.

He is ranked a three-star and 584th best player in the country and 31st best tight end in the 247sports composite. However,  247’s own rankings have him as a four star and 13th best tight end in the country.
