Cornerback

Cornerback was one of, if not the most disappointing reasons why the defense wasn’t up to Michigan football’s standards of year’s past.

The crew missed Ambry Thomas in more ways than anyone could have imagined, especially in the ugly loss to Michigan State. Rocky Lombardi had a field day of just lofting passes and getting penalties or miraculous catches by receivers to bail him out. Time will tell this year if there is an NFL-caliber cornerback on the roster.

As for the present time though Vincent Gray and Gemon Green are back to make amends for their disastrous 2020 performances.

According to coach Harbaugh, DJ Turner has had an impressive spring and has really stepped up his chances at developing into seeing the gridiron a lot more this fall.

The talent at the position is plentiful with the likes of Jalen Perry, Andre Seldon, Darion Green-Warren, and Sammy Faustin.

Whether or not any of these names can open Macdonald’s eyes is still yet to be seen. In the meantime, Harbaugh is on the record stating that he believes his Wolverines will be “pretty darn good on defense” despite the issues they went through in an irreversible, pandemic laden 2020.
