Michigan Basketball: A pair of crystal ball updates for Wolverines
Michigan basketball has a lot of momentum with 2022 point guard Seth Trimble and on Saturday, the Wolverines picked up another crystal ball.
It was only a matter of time before the crystal ball predictions in regards to Seth Trimble were going to start going the way of Michigan basketball.
Trimble was pretty open about wanting a Michigan offer. He built a relationship with Phil Martelli first and after taking some time, Juwan Howard offered Trimble and since then, the Wolverines have been viewed as the favorite to get him.
Ranked as the No. 78 prospect overall in the 2022 recruiting class according to the 247 sports composite rankings, Trimble is one of the faster risers in the Midwest right now. Prior to getting his U-M offer, Illinois, Iowa, and Indiana all jumped in the mix for Wisconsin’s best player.
Not long after he was offered, Trimble set up an official visit to Ann Arbor, which prompted a crystal ball projection from Evan Flood, who covers Wisconsin for 247 sports.
Flood put in his prediction with a confidence level of six out of 10. Now, Josh Henschke who covers Michigan basketball recruiting for the Michigan Insider has also gone ahead with his crystal ball pick, choosing to go with a confidence level of seven.
We’ll see what happens after his visit in June, but it’s possible Trimble becomes U-M’s first 2022 commitment, which would be a little surprising given Jett Howard is part of that class.
At the very least, there seems to be a shift in point guard recruiting. Trimble looks like the top target and for now, at least, the Wolverines seem to be closing in on a pledge.
A crystal ball is taken away
While Henschke predicted Trimble to the Wolverines on Saturday, he also changed his mind on another prediction related to U-M and that was for Greg Glenn.
Glenn is a 6-foot-7 forward who was offered by Juwan back in January. He’s got ties to the Howard family and both sides are comfortable with each other.
He was projected to the Wolverines but with all the recruits on the board at that 3/4 spot, it’s tough to say Glenn is a take right now.
We know Jett is going to have his spot. Then Michigan is likely going to take a point guard and someone who can play center. That leaves one or two spots remaining.
So Glenn could wind up in Ann Arbor, but much of that will depend on the Wolverines, who have a lot of options in 2022 right now.
