Michigan football has a number of key recruits visiting in June and one of them just picked up a crystal ball prediction to the Wolverines.

If you’re having a hard time keeping track of all the recruits setting up visits with Michigan football in June, you aren’t alone.

Once it hits June and the dead period is over for recruiting, the flood gates are going to open and 2022 prospects looking to make decisions sooner rather than later will be taking advantage of a chance recruits haven’t had in more than a year.

However, not all visits have stopped. Recruits have been able to take their own self-guided visits and those have proven to be very significant as well.

Yet, with one recruit, Jordan Phillips, he has an unofficial and official visit set up with Michigan football. He’s also now being projected to the Wolverines by Sam Webb of the Michigan Insider, who placed a crystal ball prediction for the three-star DT to wind up at U-M.

Webb tweeted about his prediction earlier today which he gave a confidence level of six on a scale of 1-10. He also wrote, “All his focus is on Michigan.”

How Phillips could fit with Michigan football

Phillips is listed as 6-foot-4, 290 pounds on his 247 sports profile, so he would seem like a really good fit in the Wolverines new defensive scheme under Mike Macdonald, who came over from the Baltimore Ravens.

His highlight reel actually lists him as 6-foot-5, 280 pounds. So we’ll see what’s accurate there, but either way, he’s long and carries the weight well.

One thing I noticed is that he’s a multi-sport athlete, competing in track and wrestling as well as football. Wrestlers can sometimes make very good defensive lineman. They at least don’t tend to have issues with pad level.

Phillips doesn’t strike me as a nose tackle and in his highlights, you see him lineup mostly as a three-technique. He did finish with five sacks last season and he does pretty well against double teams, which will be a requirement if he plays defensive tackle at Michigan.

Central Florida is the only other school with a visit right now and Michigan definitely stands out as the biggest name on his offer list. Miami, Auburn, Missouri, Iowa State, and Indiana have offered, but U-M, UCF, and East Carolina are the only programs listed as “warm” by 247 sports.

Michigan is pushing right now and despite his three-star ranking, he would be a really good get, especially with the new defensive system in mind.
