Michigan football got a huge win on the recruiting trail Tuesday with the commitment of four-star wideout Tyler Morris and here are three thoughts.

As far as the commitment of top-100 wide receiver Tyler Morris on Tuesday to Michigan football, it could not have come at a better time for the Wolverines.

Fresh off the loss of Xavier Worthy, who is asking to be let out of his national letter of intent, the Wolverines rebounded in the best way possible adding Morris, the No. 80 recruit overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings and the 10th-ranked receiver.

Morris is a track athlete and at 6-foot, 180 pounds, he’s got the ability to play all over the field as a wide receiver. He can line up in the slot, on the outside and you’ll even see him in high school taking handoffs and returning kicks.

When you watch his highlights, you can see that Morris is a polished route runner who’s got great hands. He can get down the field but is also pretty good with racking up yards after the catch.

And here are three thoughts on Morris to Michigan football.

What’s the fit like?

It’s really a perfect fit. Morris used to play with current Michigan quarterback and former five-star recruit, J.J. McCarthy, so the two already have a strong rapport.

But Morris can fit with any quarterback and in any system. Notre Dame and Florida were among the many schools pushing for him, however, he built a strong relationship with Josh Gattis and the ties to McCarthy also didn’t hurt.

It’s also the fourth-straight year Michigan football has landed a top player from the state of Illinois. Morris is ranked third in the state and comes on the heels of commitments by McCarthy, A.J. Henning, and Trevor Keegan.

Hopefully, Illinois will continue to be a fertile recruiting ground for the Wolverines, including a key target in this class. More on that in a minute.
