2023 four-star offensive lineman Amir Herring already has five Crystal Balls to Michigan football, but that doesn’t mean his recruitment is over.

Herring was a top performer at the Under Armour All America Camp in Ohio this past weekend. The 6-foot-4, 270-pounder helped lead his high school, West Bloomfield, to a state championship this past season and if you don’t remember, Ron Bellamy, now the Wolverines wide receivers coach, was his head coach.

Amir told The Michigan Insider:

"“I probably want to visit several schools, but I’m definitely going to go to Michigan.” Herring holds offers from Arizona State, Kentucky, Penn State, and Michigan State, among other schools.”"

I got a chance to see Herring play live this past fall in the MHSAA Divison 1 State semifinal game against Belleville, a defense filled with D-1 talent. Herring immediately stood out to me when I walked in.

Obviously, his size makes him stand out, but the way he moves, for that size, is incredible. Then the game started and it was pure domination. Herring helped the Lakers dominate the Tigers on the line of scrimmage.

Amir Herring was a big reason now Michigan football running back, Donovan Edwards was able to have such a great season, and that proved true when I watched West Bloomfield last season. Edwards had a couple of big runs right through the line, including one for a touchdown.

The Wolverines have one offensive line commitment for the 2022 class, but with the odd 2020 year, there is no reason to panic.

Now obviously we are far from Herring giving a commitment, he still has to visit Michigan and others, but he is loving Michigan, “Michigan is just a big family,” Herring told The Michigan Insider.

Sherrone Moore and Ron Bellamy have been recruiting and talking to Herring as of late and he speaks highly of them, “Coach Moore and Coach Bellamy are like father figures to me.”

Herring also told The Michigan Insider that he enjoys seeing his former teammate Donovan Edwards nowadays, “Every time I see him, we start talking and laughing about Michigan like how he needs me up there, but he’s enjoying it there.”

There’s still a long way to go in the recruiting process for Amir Herring, but things are starting to shape up nicely in favor of the Michigan football program.
