Michigan Football: 3 unanswered questions after spring ball
By Nick Popio
Now that spring practice has concluded, here are some concerns that will still be in store for Michigan football once fall camp opens in August.
The blue squad took down the maize on Saturday by a tune of 22-10 in the annual Michigan football spring game.
Cade McNamara was named MVP of the contest. No stats were given so only those in attendance have a grasp of how they fared in person. This officially puts a bow on spring practices until the program reconvenes at the kick-off of fall camp.
From what was reported by some is that the defense was ahead of the offense. That’s good news for a defense that struggled mightily a season ago, but it makes you wonder about the offense. With a returning coordinator on that side of the ball, the group should have been a step further along than the defense with all due respect.
The offensive line has gotten a mix-up from last year as well. Ryan Hayes, Trevor Keegan, Andrew Vastadris, Zak Zinter, and Andrew Stueber have mostly been rolling with the ones according to Ryan Hayes himself.
New position coach Sherrone Moore is trying to shake things up so the line can get back to a more consistent area of acceptability.
In all, this pack of Wolverines is hungry to avenge last year’s disappointment. They are saying the right things and there seems to be a different attitude than in the past, but all that could be for not when the schedule opens on September 4th.
This version has no choice but to prove it on the gridiron that they are ready to take Michigan football to the top of the college football universe or suffer the consequences of failure in the process.
