More 2022 recruiting targets of the Michigan football program have scheduled official visits and here’s the latest on who is coming to Ann Arbor.

After an extended dead period due to the COVID-19 pandemic, things are going to get wild come June, when things are expected to open up again for official visits and Michigan football has wasted no time getting those visits set up.

Obviously, the Wolverines aren’t alone and it’s something that every program is doing. Still, it’s a useful way to see which schools recruits are interested in as they only get a certain number of official visits.

Over the weekend, more recruits revealed that they would be taking official visits to Ann Arbor, and one that announced that Sunday is Sir Mells.

Mells is a big defensive tackle out of Henderson, Nevada. He’s 6-foot-4, 310 pounds, and is ranked as the No. 769 recruit overall in the 2022 class according to the 247 sports composite rankings, as well as the No. 55 defensive tackle. He’s also rated No. 12 in the state of Nevada.

His recruitment has started to take off a little bit in the past month or so. Michigan football offered near the end of February and right around that time, he was also offered by Maryland, as well as Oregon State.

Mells does have a crystal ball projection to the Washington Huskies, however, he doesn’t have a visit scheduled to Washington yet and it appears they might have cooled a bit.

The 300-pounder did set up a visit to Maryland on June 25th, the week after he will visit Michigan football, so he does seem to have some interest in the Big Ten. He’s a D-lineman to keep an eye on.

Other key visits for Michigan football

Beyond Mells, some other top targets for Michigan football sound like they will be setting up official visits with the Wolverines too.

According to EJ Holland of Rivals (subscription required), four-star safety Bryce Anderson and four-star wide receiver Jaden Mangham will both be visiting the Wolverines.

Anderson is a former LSU commitment, who is ranked as the No. 46 overall prospect in 2022. He’s 6-foot, 190 pounds, and also ranked as the No. 3 safety by the 247 sports composite rankings.

He’s trending with crystal balls to Texas right now, but he also has visits set up with USC and Texas A&M, and according to Holland, he will also visit Michigan.

It seems like a long shot, but Maurice Linguist seems to give the Wolverines a shot. It’s going to really hard to get him away from the Aggies or Longhorns though.

As far as Mangham, his crystal ball is projecting him to Michigan State, but the 6-foot-3 athlete who ranks 287th overall in the 247 sports composite rankings, has visits scheduled with West Virginia and Georgia Tech.

Holland reported that Mangham wants to visit the Wolverines too and you can catch even more on his recruitment in this podcast he did with Holland.

It sounds like Michigan is going to be in the mix here and if Mangham does wind up visiting, I’d feel even better about the Wolverines chances of landing him.
