Michigan Basketball: Grading Wolverines vs LSU, Women make history
Wings
Franz Wagner: A-
It’s hard to give Wagner anything less than an A after the way he took over down the stretch. However, you have to ask where has that player been so far during the NCAA Tournament? His defense has been strong throughout and he was huge in Michigan basketball being able to string together stops. And down the stretch, he made his final four shots, including a dagger 3-pointer. Franz just needs to be this player going forward, but when it was winning time against LSU, he was at his very best.
This felt like a game where Michigan basketball needed Chaundee Brown to deliver. You knew that the Tigers were going to double hard on Dickinson and with their ability to score, Michigan was going to have to hit some shots. Brown did that and then some. I wish he would be careful and not get silly fouls by being overly aggressive, yet it’s hard to criticize him. When Brown is making shots, Michigan is going to be tough to beat.
Terrance Williams: A
Williams probably should have been graded as a big. Either way, he gave Michigan a really strong nine-minute stretch against LSU, scoring four points, grabbing an offensive board and dishing out three assists. When Williams entered the game, I honestly thought, why? But I was wrong. Williams has a tremendous rapport with Dickinson and is a solid defender. Howard talks about “competitors only” and Williams fits that mold perfectly.
