Wings

Franz Wagner: B+

It’s hard to knock Wagner for much on Saturday. He only scored nine points and attempted seven shots — those are the biggest criticisms — outside of that, he was very solid. His defense really made an impact and he was able to dish out six assists while grabbing nine rebounds. He does need to shoot the ball though and he passed up a number of good looks from beyond the arc.

Chaundee Brown: D

The fact is that Michigan needs to get more out of Brown if it wants to advance. He had three fouls, which limited him to 16 minutes but in that time, he was 0-for-1 from the field and picked up a few rebounds. That’s just not enough from a guy who is supposed to help fill the shoes of Isaiah Livers. Juwan Howard could probably play him earlier but Brown needs to avoid silly fouls and find a way to hit some shots, otherwise, the ceiling for this team is limited.

Terrance Williams: B

Williams is a big and a wing of sorts, so we will squeeze him in at the end. Like Jackson, he was solid in his 11 minutes. It’s clear that the coaching staff trusts him defensively and push come to shove, it seems like they would play him over Jackson. Yet, his offense is still so limited. Defenses are daring him to shoot jumpers and he won’t pull the trigger. When he does, it’s been a miss. Yet, he scored four points and hit two free throws, while giving out two assists. He’s going to be a nice player going forward, especially if he can get confidence in that jumper.
