Hunter Dickinson has a big weekend

The NCAA Tournament is always unpredictable, but one prediction I feel pretty good about is the fact that Hunter Dickinson is going to impress on the first weekend.

In the opening round, after the play-in game, Michigan basketball will face one of the worst teams in the tournament and neither Texas Southern or Mount St. Mary’s have a player that’s taller than 6-foot-9, which is going to be problematic when it comes to guarding Dickinson.

The same problem is actually going to apply in the round of 32 against St. Bonaventure or LSU. The Bonnies do have a 6-foot-10 center, but the Tigers don’t, not one that plays a ton at least, and ranked 11th in the SEC in terms of 2-point field-goal percentage.

Honestly, the Bonnies and LSU will play a very close game and while LSU could be the tougher matchup for Michigan, both teams present their own challenges.

St. Bonaventure hasn’t seen many bigs like Dickinson in the A-10, so you’d probably expect a fair amount of doubles and actually, that could be a theme in this tournament.

However, Dickinson is almost as dangerous as a passer, maybe less so with Livers sidelined, but if he can get back to scoring inside and creating frequent open looks on the perimeter, this offense will get back on track.
