Michigan Basketball: 3 Thoughts on No. 1 seed, East Region
Sweet 16 bound?
Michigan is a different team without Livers, but the Wolverines still have some solid options to replace him in the lineup.
Howard went with Brandon Johns in the Big Ten semifinals and Chaundee Brown also played more minutes. Those two will need to essentially fill the role of Livers, with Terrance Williams also getting more minutes.
Brown is one of Michigan’s better 3-point shooters, yet Johns can shoot the ball from deep too, while also holding his own inside.
Michigan first has to get past No. 16 seed Mt. Saint Mary’s or Texas Southern and then it would play either LSU or St. Bonaventure.
The Bonnies are a very good defensive team and do a very good job of defending the key, which could make things tough on Michigan with Hunter Dicksinon. Neither is really an elite 3-point shooting team but they shoot it well enough as they both rank in the top 123 nationally, but they shoot well enough to pull an upset.
That being said, Michigan should have enough talent to get past those first two games and get to the Sweet 16 for a fourth consecutive time.
