The Michigan basketball team heads into the Big Ten tournament as the number one seed in one of the toughest conferences in the country. The tournament will start on Wednesday with the bottom four teams playing, while the top four seeds won’t play their first game until Friday.

This week should feature great basketball and whichever team comes out on top will certainly have deserved it. The Big Ten was widely seen as the best basketball conference throughout the whole season and has routinely seen four teams ranked in the top ten all year.

The Wolverines came out seemingly nowhere to win the conference over favorites Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin. On the flip side, Michigan State slipped down the standings after starting the year as high as number four in the country.

Purdue was a pleasant surprise and so was Ohio State to a degree. Northwestern was ranked for a week before dropping 13 straight games and Indiana and Minnesota both took a tumble to end the season.

Maryland has been up and down but finished the season strong and we never knew which team we were going to get when Rutgers took the court. The only thing that seemed certain was that Nebraska was the worst team in the conference.

The conference has been beating up on itself for almost the whole year and they have one more week of it before they get their shot at the rest of the country.

This should be a fun week of basketball and one that should put a bow on a pretty unique year in the Big Ten. Before we get to the games though, we preview what we need to look forward to this week in Indianapolis.
