Michigan football has tons of momentum on the recruiting trail right now and the Wolverines are trending with another defender in 2022.

The Michigan football team has been building some really strong momentum on the recruiting trail and it looks like it is continuing with another 2022 defender.

That recruit is outside linebacker Micah Pollard, who is a three-star recruit according to the 247 sports composite rankings. He’s ranked 531st overall in the class out of 2022 out of Jacksonville, Florida and he’s the No. 35 outside linebacker in the country.

Pollard isn’t ranked super high right now, but it’s still too early to worry that much about rankings. Kids will do a lot of moving around and the biggest thing is trusting your own evaluations as a coaching staff and Michigan football seems to be really high on Pollard.

For one, as we broke down recently, he would be a perfect fit in the new defensive scheme that Mike MacDonald wants to implement. You need those hybrid players who can rush the passer on the edge and Pollard certainly fits the bill.

That’s one bit of good news, another is that Michigan football is starting to look like the favorite to win his commitment.

Michigan football trending expert picks

The expert picks started to come in on Thursday for Pollard and the first one was from EJ Holland, the Michigan recruiting reporter at Rivals.

It has felt like things were headed in the right direction with Pollard. Linebackers coach George Helow has connections in Florida, as evidenced by him landing Branden Jennings while he was still at Maryland, over Michigan I might add.

Now, the Wolverines are putting his recruiting skills to work and Steve Lorenz of the Michigan Insider, another trusted recruiting analyst covering U-M, also placed a crystal ball projection for Pollard to the Wolverines and was the first to do so.

Pollard is also related to former Michigan football receiver Braylon Edwards, which just adds another layer to Michigan having a strong chance of getting him.

While Rivals doesn’t attach confidence levels to pick, 247 sports does and Lorenz put his confidence level at a six out of 10.

I’d expect more crystal balls soon. As far as a decision, Pollard hasn’t given any indication of when he will decide but 2022 recruits seem to be committing earlier so who knows, it could be sooner than expected.
