Michigan Basketball: How to watch, storylines vs Rutgers
Michigan basketball will return to the court Thursday night at home and here’s how to watch, stream and listen against Rutgers.
For the first time since its three-week pause, the Michigan basketball team will be at home on Thursday night as the Wolverines will host Rutgers at the Crisler Center.
Rutgers was recently in the top 25 but isn’t ranked this week. The Scarlet Knights are 8-7 in the Big Ten and 12-7 overall.
While earlier in the year, Rutgers may not have been an NCAA tournament team, the Scarlet Knights are now, but a few more wins wouldn’t hurt, especially on the road against a team being projected as a No. 1 seed.
We’ll see if Rutgers learned anything from the sweep it suffered at the hands of Michigan last season and there are a few reasons why this isn’t a great matchup.

The Scarlet Knights are a team that thrives on turnovers and attacking the basket. Rutgers ranks 240th in the country in 3-point shooting percentage and is eighth during conference play.
Rutgers doesn’t shoot a ton of 3-pointers, which feeds into exactly what the Wolverines want to do defensively. With their length and athleticism, they try to force teams into low-percentage 2-point shots and we’ll see how effective that is.
Even though Rutgers isn’t ranked the Scarlet Knights are No. 26 in the Kenpom rankings and are 12th when it comes to defensive efficiency, just a couple spots below Wisconsin.
Rutgers using a guard-heaving lineup with guys like Ron Harper, Jacob Young and Geo Baker. The Scarlet Knights do have some size inside, but Hunter Dickinson could make it a long night.
As much as Rutgers needs this win for its NCAA resume, Michigan is trying to hang onto first place in the Big Ten and avoid a letdown.
