Even though Michigan football hasn’t made any additions via the transfer portal yet, doesn’t mean it won’t and one new name to keep on the radar is Dreshun Miller.

Miller was recruited by Michigan football at one time, but he ended up going the JUCO route and then ended up with West Virginia as a junior-college transfer. But he entered the transfer portal this week and he’s likely to draw strong interest, however, U-M could be a factor.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound prospect also drew interest from other programs when he was making that decision and one of them was Texas A&M, which is where there is another connection to the current Michigan staff as cornerbacks coach Maurice Linguist was the primary recruiter.

As far as Miller is concerned, he ends up in the transfer portal after an impressive 2020 season for the Mountaineers playing and starting in nine games, finishing with 31 tackles, one interception and nine passes defended.

Obviously, the idea that Michigan would be interested in Miller is just speculation, yet, it’s not crazy to think that the Wolverines are looking for help at corner last season and with the connection to Linguist, this seems like a potential target.

Yet, there’s no question that Michigan needs to add some talent to this defense and honestly, the Wolverines could use more at all three levels of the defense.

During his recruiting process as a junior college player, Miller was committed to LSU at one point and he was fought for heavily, so I’d expect strong interest from SEC teams once again.

He’s originally from Georgia, so the Bulldogs could get in the mix. Auburn is another program that was on him from before, but I’d expect no shortage of suitors.

While many have focused on Michigan’s need at defensive tackle, the Wolverines could also use help with the pass rush, at linebacker and in the secondary.

U-M only added one cornerback and one safety in the 2021 recruiting class and even though the Wolverines have some young talent at corner, a proven option like Miller would be an ideal fit and Michigan should at least kick the tires.

With Linguist running point, who knows? It could happen.
