Central Michigan DT Mohamed Diallo

The Wolverines have been active in the portal, in terms of contacting players and Michigan has been in touch with multiple defensive lineman, including some pass rushers.

Yet, the biggest need Michigan football must address before next season is at defensive tackle. U-M didn’t add any true defensive tackles in the 2021 recruiting class and even though Chris Hinton and Mazi Smith could be back as starters, depth is needed badly.

One name that would seem to make a lot of sense is former Central Michigan defensive tackle Mohamed Diallo, a player Michigan has already contacted according to Steve Lorenz of the Michigan Insider ($).

Diallo is listed at 6-foot-4, 305 pounds and he notched three sacks and 7.5 tackles for loss in just four games last season. He also had 16 tackles, (four per game) which is pretty solid for a 300-pound defensive tackle.

Weston Kramer, a former two-star recruit who played the last four years at Northern Illinois, could also be name to watch. He’s listed 6-foot-2, 280 pounds, so I’d say Diallo, with the bigger body would be preferred.

But as thin as Michigan is up front at defensive tackle, it could honestly use a couple of big bodies and maybe the new staff will have some players in mind, but as of now, the Wolverines need to act quickly because the talent in the portal is vanishing quickly.
