Last month, when Michigan football announced its 2021 early signees, head coach Jim Harbaugh said the Wolverines were going to hit the transfer portal and hard.

But, since that time, there hasn’t been any movement. Michigan football has expressed some interest in different players, yet without a defensive staff in place, adding players was always going to be difficult.

However, Harbaugh has his defensive staff in place now, with Mike Macdonald and Maurice Linguist taking over as co-defensive coordinators, so hopefully, Michigan will make some moves in the portal, because there are some needs to be addressed.

While Michigan has positional needs, the Wolverines also just need playmakers and that’s where we start with three ideal transfer portal targets for U-M:

Former Tennessee LB Henry To’o To’o

With all of the fallout from the Tennessee firing its head coach, Henry To’o To’o entered the transfer portal and the former top-50 recruit is going to have no shortage of suitors.

Last season, he had 68 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, one sack, one interception and a defensive touchdown.

With Cam McGrone entering the NFL draft, Michigan has a clear need at linebacker and last season, whether it was Josh Ross or someone else, the play was just below average.

To’o To’o would be a major upgrade and although Michigan won’t be the only team in hot pursuit, Chris Balas of the Wolverine reported some positive developments (subscription required) that makes you think U-M could be a real player.

We’ll see what happens, but that would be a monster addition for Michigan football and here two other transfer portal targets the Wolverines should make a strong push for.
