Hunter Dickinson: B-

Maryland made it a priority to shut down Hunter Dickinson in this game and they did just that. The problem is, they didn’t do a good job on anybody else. This game will be a learning experience for Dickinson. Sometimes it won’t be your night and the other team will take you out. But overall, he responded well.

Maryland sent a quick double team every time Dickinson touched the ball and he made good reads and good passes all night long. He only recorded one assist but his passes out of double teams led to several open 3’s after a few swing passes from his teammates.

He only had one turnover which was key and only attempted three shots. After the first few minutes, it was evident that Maryland wasn’t going to let Hunter go off again and he did a nice job of staying patient and letting his teammates carry the offensive load.

He was also really good on the defensive end finishing with three blocks, a steal, and six rebounds.

Austin Davis: A-

Austin Davis gave Michigan basketball 10 great minutes off the bench scoring nine points on 4-of-5 shooting. He’s a great backup center but his weakness on the defensive side and on the glass is still evident and is the reason you can’t really afford to play him much more than 10 minutes per game.

If he can continue to come in and give great hustle and be efficient on offense, that’s all Michigan can ask of him and he will continue to play his role perfectly.

Brandon Johns: A

Brandon Johns played a mix of power forward and center and did a really nice job in this game. He has been a bit of a roller coaster this season but when he has had a favorable matchup, he has played well.

Johns came in and knocked down a 3-pointer right away and it felt like that gave him a lot of confidence for the rest of the game. His biggest strength this season has been his rebounding and that showed once again as he grabbed 4 rebounds in just 13 minutes of action.

Johns finished with 11 points on 4-6 shooting and gave Michigan basketball the boost off the bench that he is always capable of giving.
