Michigan Basketball: 4 recruits that could join Wolverines’ 2022 class
By Max S.
Gregg Glenn
Gregg Glenn is an intriguing four-star prospect from Florida that Michigan basketball is really high on. He’s a 6’7 power forward that is ranked 74th in the 2022 247Sports Composite. Glenn currently holds offers from Michigan, Florida State, Pitt, Maryland, Alabama, Arkansas, and others.
Glenn is a modern day power forward. He’s extremely versatile. He can shoot it, he’s athletic and has the potential to be a plus defender. His rim attacking needs some improvement but that will develop over time.
Glenn has a great relationship with Jett Howard and Michigan is seen as the leader in his recruitment right now. With not a ton of blue blood schools after him, I really like Michigan’s chances here.
Eric Dailey
Eric Dailey is another athletic power forward that Michigan is high on. He plays for IMG Academy and is a current teammate of Jett Howard and Moussa Diabate. Dailey is ranked as the 29th best player in his class according to the 247Sports Composite.
Michigan is in an interesting spot with Dailey and Glenn. They both play the same position and I would consider Michigan the leader for them both right now. However, I don’t see both players joining this class. With Jett Howard as a lock to this class, adding Dailey and Glenn is just too many wings and doesn’t make much sense to me.
I think Juwan likes them both a lot, and I do see one of those two players joining Michigan’s class when all is said and done.
Team needs/Other recruits
The four players that I mentioned above all have a great chance at joining the 2022 Michigan basketball class. But we are still early in the process and Michigan has other team needs outside of those players listed above.
Depending on the future of Hunter Dickinson, Michigan may need to add a center in this class. Guys like Jalen Duran and Dereck Lively could fill that spot nicely. A scoring shooting guard will also likely be a priority for the Wolverines. Justice Williams, a top-30 player and current teammate of Caleb Houstan would be a good fit.
I was also previously extremely high on 4-star PF Colin Smith. I think Michigan and Smith have a ton of mutual interest. But as Michigan continues to prioritize Dailey and Glenn, I’m not sure there will end up being room for Smith.
Expect Michigan’s 2022 recruiting board to become more clear in the coming months and into the spring. I also wouldn’t be surprised to see Michigan basketball land a couple of 2022 commitments very soon.
