Michigan basketball will take on 16th ranked Minnesota on Wednesday night looking for its second consecutive win against a ranked team.

After a dominating performance against Northwestern on Sunday night, Michigan basketball jumped up to 10th in the new AP poll after a 9-0 start to the season.

Also, following a somewhat easy start to Big Ten play, the schedule is about to get a whole lot tougher for the Wolverines starting with Minnesota.

Here are my three bold predictions for Michigan’s game against Minnesota.

1. Michigan wins by double digits

Minnesota will be the best team Michigan basketball has faced to date this season. The Golden Gophers are 10-2 and have already beaten three ranked teams so far. They have big time wins against Iowa, Michigan State, and Ohio State.

You’re probably wondering how is it possible that I’m predicting a double-digit win for Michigan. Let me explain.

For as good as Minnesota has been at time this season, the Gophers have really struggled on the road. All three of their ranked wins are at home and both of their losses this season have been on the road. Even though there are no fans this season, it’s still different and more uncomfortable playing on the road.

Not only have both losses been on the road, both have been by double digits including a 27 point road loss to Illinois in the middle of December.

With how well Michigan is playing right now, and how poorly Minnesota has played on the road, it wouldn’t surprise me if Michigan basketball controlled the game and pulled away late for a double digit victory.
