Michigan Football: Tom Brady destroys Lions, clinches playoff spot
Former Michigan football quarterback Tom Brady did some damage against the state’s pro team, the Detroit Lions on Saturday and clinched a playoff berth for his team.
It’s always interesting to see how quick people are to doubt former Michigan football quarterback Tom Brady.
He was questioned plenty during his time with the Patriots and after a run of throwing interceptions earlier this season, people questioned again if he was done after making the move to the Tampa Bay Bucs.
But after another record-breaking performance Saturday and a win that clinched a playoff berth for the Bucs, maybe the doubters will be silenced for a little while.
Of course, the Lions don’t always resemble an NFL franchise, but still, Brady was masterful in the first half as many Michigan fans watched the former Wolverines quarterback tear up their pro team in Detroit.
Brady set Tampa Bay records with 341 passing yards and four touchdowns. He finished the day 22-of-27 for 348 yards and as Tampa Bay earned its 10th win, the Bucs clinched a playoff berth.

Anything less than a Super Bowl will probably be viewed as a failure for those who have criticized Brady but a 43-year old quarterback throwing for more than 4,000 yards and 36 touchdowns is pretty impressive.
This comes on the hells of a a come-from-behind win against the Atlanta Falcons. Matt Ryan’s club built a 17-0 lead over Tampa, which didn’t score at all in the first half of the game.
But Brady, knowing the Bucs needed a win in the playoff race, threw for 290 yards and two touchdowns as Tampa rallied for the win. Now, at 10-5, the Bucs have won three games in a row and the talk about Brady struggling in Bruce Arians offense seem silly.
Not for nothing but Tampa Bay is now headed to the postseason for the first time in 13 years. The game will be on the road since the Saints won the NFC South Division, but the Bucs could wind up playing a team from the NFC East and getting another game against the Packers or Saints.
Yet, regardless of what happens in the playoffs, it will be hard to call Brady’s first season in Tampa Bay anything but a success.
