Bring back Mike Hart

This week when Don Brown was let go, Chris Balas of the Wolverine reported (subscription required)  that it was just the start of a staff shakeup and he mentioned that Jay Harbaugh could be moving to just coaching special teams instead of running back.

At this point, that’s the only thing we have heard on that subject but if that does prove to be true, Michigan football needs to do whatever it takes to get Mike Hart as his replacement.

Hart was one of the best running backs in Michigan football history, but beyond that, he’s coached in the MAC and now at Indiana, he’s gained a solid reputation as a good position coach and recruiter.

Recruiting hasn’t been the issue at running back for the Wolverines. Jay Harbaugh has landed a number of elite talents there over and over again. But if Michigan got Hart, which might take offering him the title of co-offensive coordinator or run game coordinator, he would do an amazing job.

Few people could better represent what it means to be a Michigan football player than Hart and I have a feeling he would get the best out of Donovan Edwards and others.
