Former Michigan basketball player Duncan Robinson did something no NBA player had ever done on Christmas Day before in a win for the Miami Heat.

Former Michigan basketball player Duncan Robinson has put together a storybook career in the NBA with the Miami Heat and on Christmas Day, he did something no other NBA player had ever done.

It might sound more impressive than it is, but still Robinson’s six first-half 3-pointers were the most ever by an NBA player in the first half of a Christmas Day game. When Robinson was finished, he made seven shots total from beyond the arc and finished with 23 total points.

With the win, the Heat are now 1-1 on the season and Robinson has picked up right where he left off from last season, making 10 3-pointers in two games for the Heat this season.

Robinson made just one 3-ball in the second half and through two games, Robinson has averaged over 18 a game and as far as 3-point shooting, he’s picking right where he left off from the NBA finals run a year ago.

Robinson who is in his fourth year now in the NBA, is still playing on his original contract with the Miami Heat. Yet, if he keeps shooting the ball as well as he has been, Miami is going to have to fork out some money to a player who has become a key part of the organization.

Miami has a star in Jimmy Butler and another in Bam Adebayo, plus Tyler Herro looks like he can be special too and the addition of an elite shooter like Robinson is something that every team in the NBA needs.

His defense isn’t the greatest, but he rebounds the ball fairly well and frankly, he shoots it so well and at such a high percentage from 3, it’s worth the sacrifice.

Last season, Robinson averaged 13.5 points in 29 minutes a night and shot 44 percent from deep and 93 percent at the free throw line.

But after everything Robinson went through to earn his way into the NBA, it’s awesome to see the former Michigan basketball player go off and the bottom line is that he’s easy to root for.
