Early national signing day has arrived and here are all the latest rumors relating to Michigan football including another commitment flipping.

In recruiting, there is nothing like national signing day and while Wednesday is technically early signing day, it’s the day that matters and hopefully, it’s a positive day for Michigan football.

There are some key decisions to come later in the day for Michigan football as running back Donovan Edwards will be making his final decision. Current commits, Xavier Worthy and cornerback Ja’Den McBurrows will also be making announcements Wednesday.

Edwards and Worthy are early in the afternoon and McBurrows, who will choose between Michigan football and Miami will announce at 8 PM ET.

Last night, Branden Jennings stated trending to Maryland and when he makes his decision at 10 AM EST, folks are expecting him to flip to the Terps. Then, in more bad news, Quintin Somerville, a four-star defensive end from Arizona, started trending to UCLA.

We also know that Jaydon Hood won’t sign today. He said he’s solid and just wants to visit U-M. But of the 21 verbal commitments, that’s three at least (Hood, Jennings, Somerville) that won’t sign with Michigan and McBurrows is on the fence.

Omarion Cooper, a Florida State commitment, could be a flip for Michigan. There have also been rumblings about renewed momentum for Rayshaun Benny, who also is not expected to sign with Michigan State in the early period.

EJ Holland of Rivals wrote in this about the cornerback prospects:

"“Michigan lands one of McBurrows or Cooper. I can’t see the Wolverines completely striking out at corner.”"

He also expressed confidence in both Worthy and Edwards:

"“I have my FutureCast pick on Michigan for Edwards and have no reason to change it on signing day. The Wolverines are in a prime position land the top overall target on their 2021 recruiting board. My confidence is also high with Worthy sticking. Yes, Bama looked like a lock to flip him a couple of weeks ago, but Michigan did a fantastic job as we rolled into signing day.”"

While it would be disappointing to miss out on guys like Somerville, Jennings and even McBurrows, if the Wolverines get Worthy and Edwards, signing day will be a huge success.

J.J. McCarthy and Junior Colson have shown no signs of wavering and they are both special talents too. There will still be work to do in the transfer portal and with some late evaluations, but Michigan needs elite talent and if Holland’s words prove true, it will get it.
