Michigan Basketball: 5 Things we learned about Wolverines in 5-0 start
Juwan is pushing all the right buttons
In his second season as head coach, you have to be impressed with how Juwan Howard is handling things this season. Yes, there are a few questions about the rotation especially at center and backup center, but overall, Juwan appears in total control of this program.
Just look at the additions he has made. Transfers can always be hit and miss and despite how good they have been at previous spots, assimilating them and finding the perfect role isn’t easy.
But with Brown and Smith, Howard found two guys who not only filled big needs on the roster, but also fit this team from a personality perspective. You’d never know that Smith and Brown were first-year guys and they just fit the culture.
You hear the word culture talked about a lot in regards to the football team and if you want to see what building a positive culture looks like, see what Juwan has done with U-M basketball.
This team has a grueling 20-game stretch coming up in the Big Ten and there will be tough times ahead. But just like last season, Michigan will overcome, thanks to its head coach, who will have this team in the thick of the Big Ten race come March.
