Franz still finding his way

A lot of people expected Franz Wagner to have a breakout season after he was solid but not spectacular as a freshman, averaging 11.6 points per game. We heard about how dominant he was and how much better he had gotten, but so far, we haven’t really seen a huge difference.

Through the first five games, Wagner has only attempted 10 3-pointers. Livers leads the team with 27 and Brown is right there at 26 — 16 more than Wagner, even though Franz starts and averages 27 minutes compared to 21.

It was promising to see Wagner make two 3-pointers in the win against Toledo, but I want to see him hunt his shot more and so far, he hasn’t been hitting in the high 30s as expected.

It’s obviously very early and I do think Wagner will get more involved especially as we get into conference play but that’s on the coaches too. Wagner is too good a player to be fifth on his team in shot attempts per game.
