There have been a number of rumors swirling about Jim Harbaugh, Michigan football and the NFL but Jay Glazer says the league isn’t interested.

Throughout Jim Harbaugh’s head-coaching tenure with Michigan football, there have been constant rumors about him jumping ship for the NFL.

Last week, Pro Football Talk reported that Harbaugh eyed a return to the NFL. Of course, the key word there is that the coach was eyeing a return to the NFL, not that teams were after him.

Since then, we have learned that Michigan football has offered Harbaugh a three-year contract extension and that he is mulling it over. But now, the Wolverines are apparently waiting for an answer and it seems like this NFL angle is an attempt for Harbaugh to gain leverage.

To further back up that idea, Jay Glazer, an NFL insider for Fox Sports, reported on the Tiki and Tierney show Wednesday that he’s heard of no interest in Harbaugh.

Glazer said “No. I have not,” when asked if he had heard of any NFL teams showing interest in Harbaugh, he also said this:

"“There hasn’t been [NFL interest in him] the last few years, so I don’t know why it would suddenly come to light this year,” Glazer said. “There might be [a team interested], but I personally think he’s better suited for college.”"

What does this mean?

Honestly, who knows at this point. Glazer did hedge a little bit and said there might be a team interested and it’s possible someone like San Diego could show some interest. Harbaugh played there and has ties to the West coast from San Francisco and Stanford.

But after a 2-4 season, it’s hard to see NFL teams beating down his door for a job. It wouldn’t shock me if some team ended up offering him a job. He was a proven winner in the NFL and despite one poor season with Michigan football, he’s won most of his games and has had three 10-win seasons.

With Warde Manuel stating earlier this week that he and Harbaugh would meet at the end of the season, things have gone into a tailspin and there’s a ton of uncertainty right now, which isn’t ideal with the early signing period coming on Dec. 16.

Even if Harbaugh does come back, there are strong indications that major changes will be made. At the very least, Don Brown is likely gone and Josh Gattis might be too.

Hopefully, we get some clarity soon and before a huge chunk of the 2021 recruiting class decommits.
