Michigan Basketball: 3 Takeaways from Wolverines blowout of Toledo
Wolverines dominating in the paint
A lot of us have been calling for Davis to come off the bench in favor of Dickinson, but Juwan Howard hasn’t made that move and honestly, Davis has responded pretty well.
The fact is that Davis isn’t the world’s best athlete and he never will be. But he also plays his tail off and knows how to score the basketball inside — both he and Dickinson can do that.
It will be interesting to see how that carries over to Big Ten play but the Wolverines have two guys they can feed the ball to in the low post and you don’t always see a ton of that in today’s game.
For one it has led to a lot of easy buckets and while they won’t be as easy when Big Ten play opens up, Dickinson and Davis will draw double teams and that means open shots for others.
And at this point, I guess it doesn’t matter who starts the game. Dickinson is playing more minutes and that’s how it should be, so for now, I guess why change what’s working?
The best news is that between the two of them, through five games, they are shooting 71 percent (41-of-57). That’s getting it done no matter who opens the game.
