Michigan Football: 3 Nittany Lions to watch this week
Jayson Oweh
Season Stats: 33 tackles
Jayson Oweh is the top pass rusher for the Nittany Lions. He has yet to record a sack this season but he had five in 2019 in a more limited role behind future NFL draft pick Yetur Gross-Matos.
The 6′ 5″ 250 lb edge rusher has a team leading 16 pressures to his name so far, including 12 hurries and four hits on the quarterback according to Pro Football Focus.
Oweh is an athletic freak who will give Michigan football’s tackles fits all day if they choose not to double team or chip him as he fights toward presumed starter Cade McNamara.
To combat his explosiveness I would expect RB Zach Charbonnet to be in on many passing downs as he is the best pass-blocking tailback the Wolverines have. Also, seeing sophomore TE Erick All on Oweh’s side of the line would not be surprising either.
Hopefully senior TE Nick Eubanks isn’t asked to block Oweh much as he was exposed repeatedly last week against Rutgers in those situations.
