Michigan Basketball: Final starting five and depth chart predictions
By Max S.
Starter: Isaiah Livers
The senior forward returns for one last year looking for one final deep NCAA tournament run. Isaiah Livers is the best leader on this team. He’s also the best shooter and floor spacer as well.
Last season we got a taste of how special Livers can be. Even when he’s not stuffing the stat sheet with points, his ability to shoot spreads the defense out and creates scoring opportunities for his teammates.
I think the emergence of Wagner will really help Livers’ game this season. He won’t be scoring option number one, and he will be able to play a role which he thrives at. That role is knocking down threes, and doing all the dirty work that doesn’t always show up in box scores.
One area that Livers will need to improve on this season is his defense and rebounding. He’s capable of being a plus player in both of those areas, it’s just a matter of committing to it and being fundamentally sound. Livers and Wagner will make up one of the best wing duos in not only the Big Ten, but the country as well.
Playing behind Livers will be Brandon Johns. He will be asked to play multiple positions and has the chance to be an x-factor for Michigan basketball this season. Terrance Williams should see some time at the four as well.
Michigan has the luxury of having multiple guys who can play both wing spots. This position is by far the deepest on this squad.
