Michigan Basketball: Final starting five and depth chart predictions
By Max S.
Starter: Chaundee Brown
I have Chaundee Brown in the starting shooting guard spot to start the season. I am very confident in Eli Brooks starting at one of the guard spots so the only thing that would make Brown come off the bench is if Juwan Howard decides to roll with Mike Smith at the one.
Fact is, we just don’t know how the minutes are going to shake out between Smith, Brooks, and Brown. Two of those three players will start and one will be forced to that 6th man spot.
I love Brown’s game. I think it would compliment Brooks at the PG spot nicely. It would give Eli another elite defender beside him and more importantly, it would let Brooks play along side a rim attacker which is not his strength.
Also seeing minutes at the two spot will be Brooks when he’s not running the offense. He’s a combo guard that has proven he can play both back court spots. Zeb Jackson is a similar combo guard type player and will be asked to play off the ball a bit too.
This is also a big year for junior Adrien Nunez. It will likely be his only shot to break out and prove he can be a solid role player on this team. I just have a hard time seeing where his minutes will come from.
If Nunez can prove he can come off the bench and make shots, he will get his chance. But with a lack of defense and ball handling, if Nunez doesn’t make shots, I don’t see him seeing the floor much this season.
