Predicting starters/rotation

Trying to figure out who will start for Michigan basketball has been one of the most difficult things to project about this team.

At point guard, you could easily make a case for Eli Brooks, who was the two for Michigan basketball last season or Columbia transfer Mike Smith, who is the most natural point guard on the roster and the best scorer in ball-screen situations or at least the most experienced.

The only certainties in the starting lineup are going to be Franz Wagner and Isaiah Livers, likely at the three and four, respectively. Chaundee Brown, the former Wake Forest transfer, is another candidate to start at shooting guard, but then that would leave Smith or Brooks on the bench.

At center, Juwan Howard will decide between Austin Davis and Hunter Dickinson. On Wednesday, it feels like Davis will get the nod, but Dickinson will wind up playing more minutes.

The biggest thing is that Howard will get a chance to mix and match his lineups against another team and that’s what we will see. I certainly expect to see Brown, Wagner and Livers on the floor a lot. They are the three best players and can play different positions.

The question is how the other pieces will fit around those three guys and one thing to watch is Brandon Johns, who should get some time at center tomorrow too.
