The Michigan basketball team will open its season Wednesday afternoon against Bowling Green and here are three predictions for the Wolverines.

While some college basketball games have been canceled already, it appears as though the debut for Michigan basketball is going forward as Bowling Green is set to invade Ann Arbor Wednesday.

The Falcons are from the MAC but they aren’t just going be a pushover. Last season, Bowling Green went 21-10 overall and posted a 12-6 record in their conference, which was second in the MAC Eastern Division.

Bowling Green is also among the preseason favorites in the MAC and is an experienced team that returns Justin Turner, who led the Falcons with more than 18 points per game last season. He also grabbed 4.6 rebounds per game and also connected on 36 percent of his 3-point attempts.

While Michigan basketball has a limited offseason schedule, this game isn’t like some of the previous openers which has featured teams ranked in the low 200s or even the 300s.

In the preseason Kenpom rankings, Bowling Green is ranked 164th, which is still well below the Wolverines who enter the season as 15th. But still, the Falcons can play and should provide a moderate challenge for the Wolverines who will need to be sharp to win convincingly.

The Wolverines enter the matchup as a 14.5 point favorite, which seems like an interesting spread. The Wolverines should win this game by double digits, but with at least two new starters and three of the top eight in the rotation being newcomers, it could take time to gel.

With that in mind, we peer into the crystal ball and try to predict that will see Wednesday at Crisler Center.
