Michigan football will host Wisconsin on Saturday night and here are five predictions for the Wolverines against the Badgers.

After the first week of the Big Ten season, Michigan football and Wisconsin both looked like juggernauts. But a lot has changed since then as the Wolverines have lost two games in a row and Wisconsin hasn’t even played since following an outbreak out COVID-19.

But after missing the last two games, the Badgers will be back on the field Saturday night as they try to improve on their 1-0 record and stay alive for the Big Ten title.

Michigan football, on the other hand, is out of the Big Ten title race. Unless a bunch of crazy things happen, the Wolverines are just trying to avoid a third-straight loss as their season could fall completely off the rails.

It wouldn’t be the first three-game losing streak of Harbaugh’s tenure and actually, U-M lost four in a row at the end of 2017 and the start of 2018, with losses to Wisconsin, Ohio State, South Carolina and Notre Dame.

That was one of the darkest runs of the Harbaugh era but it could pale in comparison to what it might look like following yet another loss and with that in mind, we kick it off with five bold predictions for Michigan football and Wisconsin.

Michigan actually starts strong

The last two weeks, the Wolverines have been plagued by rough starts. Against Indiana, it was a two-score game before you could even blink and even the Spartans scored on their second possession to grab an early lead at the Big House.

However, after sitting out for two weeks, you’d think the Badgers would be a little rusty. And while many expect Graham Mertz to start at quarterback, we don’t know anything yet. Plus, the Badgers could still be without other players too.

So after two weeks and possibly with some moving pieces, U-M could take advantage of that rust and turn it into a positive start.

The last two weeks, Michigan has sort of just gone through the motions. There has been little fire and intensity. But on a Saturday night, against the No. 13 team in the country, with their head coach under fire, I expect an inspired effort, which leads to Michigan actually getting an early lead.
