Why Michigan might lose

One of the big questions coming into this game is the status of Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz, who dazzled in his debut this season, completing 20-of-21 passes against Illinois.

If Mertz is able to go, it won’t ruin Michigan’s chances, but it certainly won’t help. With Mertz at quarterback, the Badgers can air it out with a number of talented targets in the passing game such as Danny Davis, Kendric Pryor and Jake Ferguson.

What’s really scary is the thought of Wisconsin establishing a running game and then being able to attack Michigan with the play-action pass.

After watching the Wolverines the last two weeks, you have to wonder how in the world they will hold up in the trenches against the Badgers?

And if Wisconsin is able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball, it will win this game handily, especially with Mertz at QB.

Basically, the Wolverines probably need to win the turnover battle and likely, the fight for time of possession, otherwise, I just don’t see how Michigan football beats Wisconsin Saturday night.
