Michigan will dominate the ground game

I mentioned it a little on the previous slide, but the Hoosiers don’t have a strong running game, which should bode well for the Michigan defense, which excels when it can stop the run — most of the time anyway.

However, the Indiana offense is still explosvie and one thing that could help is if Michigan football is able to play a little keep away on offense.

Obviously, Michigan football still wants to go fast and they will be running out of their spread sets, but I’d expect to see lots of rushing attempts and lot of rushing yards this week.

Michigan State is allowing about 3.4 yards per carry, while Indiana has allowed 4.4 yards per attempt in two games defending Michigan State and Rutgers. U-M, even though it wasn’t great last week, had over 150 yards rushing and is racking up 202 yards per game and 6.2 per rush.

Joe Milton has added to the running game and he’s carried the ball more times than anyone else in the first two games. This week, I’d like to see a running back get more than 10 touches for the first time and even though it’s hard to say who it will be, I think that happens.

The offense will also finish with more than 250 yards on the ground in a game plan that looks a lot like the first game against Minnesota.
