Anticipating Houston’s impact

Michigan basketball made sense for Houstan for a few reasons, as outlined here, but one of the biggest was the chance to step in and contribute immediately next season.

We know that Livers is graduating, so the power forward job will be wide open and Houstan will likely fill it. Franz Wagner could be graduating too, which will open another spot.

Regardless of whether or not he starts, although I’d be shocked if he didn’t, Houstan is going to play a huge role on this team simply due to his 3-point shooting.

This year’s team, if Chaundee Brown is ruled eligible, would be losing Livers, Wagner (unless he skips on the NBA draft), Mike Smith and Eli Brooks, who actually made the most 3-point field goals of any Wolverine last season.

So Houstan is going to slot into that role just fine and with Zeb Jackson and Frankie Collins in the backcourt, as well as Hunter Dickinson in the low post, Houstan is going to get lots of open looks.
