Michigan football is set to renew its rivalry with Michigan State this Saturday and here are three reasons the Wolverines will win and one why they won’t.

It’s weird to think that Michigan football‘s second game of the season will be against arch rival Michigan State, but that’s just part of this new world of college football in 2020.

The Wolverines will host the Spartans this Saturday for the second straight season as Michigan routed MSU at the Big House a year ago 44-10.

It was the second consecutive win for the Wolverines in this series and the third in the past five years for head coach Jim Harbaugh and company.

However, this time around, Harbaugh will have a new counterpart following the retirement of former head coach Mark Dantonio. The man in charge now is Mel Tucker and while he has generated some excitement among Spartan fans, his first game was a flop.

Make no mistake, Rutgers is going to be much improved with new head coach Greg Schiano, so I have shied away from teasing the Spartans too much for the loss, but there’s no doubt it was a bad look for a coach making his debut.

On the same day the Spartans got dominated at home, Michigan football did the same thing on the road to Minnesota, showing the true difference between the two programs.

Yet, one win is all it takes to change things in a rivalry and with that in mind, here are three reasons the Wolverines will win and one they won’t.
