Who wins?

For Harbaugh and the Wolverines, this feels like a game they have to win. The pressure is on and if they are going to be a Big Ten power, they have to beat teams like Minnesota. The Gophers are good, don’t get me wrong, but Michigan should be better.

Harbaugh’s teams and Michigan in general, have struggled to win on the road against ranked teams with just one win over a ranked opponent on the road since 2006 (MSU, 2018).

However, Michigan enters the game as a slight favorite and for the most part, the Wolverines have fared much better as the favorite than the underdog, which makes sense if you think about it.

For what it’s worth, Michigan kept practicing when others stopped and has appeared, from the outside, to build a cohesive team, something that should have a huge benefit this season, as programs were without spring ball.

This game will be indicative of this season. It’s not a must-win and Michigan can recover from a loss, but if the Wolverines can’t beat Minnesota on the road, how will they do it at Ohio State?

So it’s all about progress and by beating the Gophers, Harbaugh and company can make a statement on national TV. Or they can have another meltdown.

Truth be told, Michigan feels more prepared going into this matchup and as I’ve said, the Wolverines are the more talented team, so in the end, they will find a way but it won’t be easy.
