Bateman will get his

There is a reason that Jim Harbaugh called Rashod Bateman an “alpha” during his meeting with the media this week, because he’s a freak. He averaged about 20 yards a reception last year and he’s going to find a way to make some plays Saturday night.

If all goes to plan defensively, Michgan will force Minnesota to throw the football more than it wants to and if that happens, Bateman is probably going to get over 100 yards and find the end zone. For Michigan, it’s just a matter of making sure he doesn’t go insane.

It sounds like the plan is to put Vincent Gray on Bateman and while some fans have expressed concern, Gray is 6-foot-3 and played well as the No. 3 guy last season. He’s as equipped as anyone on the roster.

Certainly, there will be some help from Daxton Hill or Brad Hawkins over the top. The other key thing for Michigan will be getting home with the pass rush, because any quarterback with time to throw can be dangerous, especially one as good as Morgan.

That’s why the Wolverines aren’t going to stop Morgan and Bateman all night. But if they can limit the other weapons, it will be hard for Bateman to do it by himself.
