An elite defender added to 2021

Landing a player like Jennings is a big deal at any time, but the fact that the Wolverines were able to pull his commitment, seemingly out of nowhere, this late in the cycle is an absolute coup.

A lot of different things combined to make it happen and immediately, Jennings is the top-ranked defender in the Wolverines 2021 class. He’s the only defender in the top-100 of the 247 composite rankings and he’s also the top recruit according to Rivals.

Here’s an excerpt of his scouting report via 247 sports’ Barton Simmons:

"“Physically imposing inside linebacker that has some projectability to move down to the line of scrimmage. Power Five starter with NFL Draft upside.”"

The full scouting report is obviously much longer and talks about his potential as a pass rusher down the road. Whether that comes as an edge rusher type or blitzing, which Bush Jr. was very good at, you can definitely see it. He’s explosive and a heat-seeking missile.

Watch his highlights and you will see definitely see the Bush comparisons. There are some concerns about his coverage as Simmons notes, but his game will fit perfectly in the Big Ten and he can continue an elite lineage of linebackers that includes Bush Jr. and now Cam McGrone.
