Isaiah Livers predicts Michigan Basketball’s starting lineup
By Max S.
Isaiah Livers spoke to the media on Tuesday morning and previewed what he thought the starting five would look like if there was a Michigan basketball game tonight.
We have done plenty of starting five predictions on here for the upcoming Michigan basketball season. But Isaiah Livers outlined what he thought the current starting five would look like. It was quite a surprise to me.
PG: Mike Smith
SG: Eli Brooks
SF: Franz Wagner
PF: Isaiah Livers
C: Austin Davis
One big thing stands out to me is no Hunter Dickinson. I have been pretty vocal about how I think Dickinson will be the day one starter at center. I think Austin Davis was brought back for depth and to help develop Dickinson.
As a matter of fact, Livers made mention of the fact that Davis has taken Hunter under his wing in the early stages of practice and workouts.
It’s important to note that practices are just starting to get underway. Austin Davis is a 5th year guy and Hunter Dickinson is a true freshman. Of course Davis is further along at this point. Just because that may be the starting five at this moment, do not be surprised if Hunter Dickinson passes Davis before the season starts.
Dickinson is such a talented kid with a tremendous upside. He is the future at center for Michigan basketball. It’s just still unknown how much time he will need to be ready to contribute at a high level.
Another thing that could shake up Livers’ starting five is if Chaundee Brown is granted his waiver to play this season. That would give Michigan basketball another guard and could shake things up in the backcourt.
Juwan Howard could slide Brooks to the PG spot and start Brown at the two. Or, he could be content on using Brown as the sixth man this season.
Even if Chaundee Brown and Hunter Dickinson don’t find themselves in the starting five to start the Michigan basketball season, they will be called upon plenty and will have a big role this season.
