Michigan Basketball: 6 prospects Wolverines are targeting in 2022
By Max S.
Jett Howard
IMG Academy
Ranking: 45th overall (4-star)
As I’m sure you know, Jett Howard is the son of Michigan basketball coach Juwan Howard. What you might not know, this guy is one of the best players in the 2022 class.
Jett is a 6’7 shooting guard with a great overall game. He has tremendous size for the position and can really shoot the lights out.
Rivals insider Rob Cassidy recently was on the road and watched some of the nation’s top prospects. He mentioned Jett Howard as one of the standouts($):
"Jett Howard scored in spurts during IMG Academy’s game at the Hoops Exchange Fall Festival in the Orlando suburbs a few weeks ago. He also showed notable defensive awareness and a level of court vision you wouldn’t expect from a prospect often celebrated for his ability to score. His performance was strikingly well-rounded."
It really is hard to imagine a scenario where Jett Howard goes to any school other than Michigan. Getting a chance to play for your dad and along side your brother seems like an opportunity too good to pass up. We also know the University of Michigan runs in the blood of the Howard family.
But Jett Howard remains adamant that his recruitment is still open. Florida is the other major school who has offered and could make a run at stealing Jett away from Michigan.
To be honest, I’m pretty surprised that Jett has not announced his commitment to Michigan yet. As a top-50 player in the country attending one of the best basketball schools in the country, his commitment to Michigan will be a big deal.
It would give the Wolverines momentum on the recruiting trail and other top players could want to join him at Michigan. The Wolverines are pursuing several of his teammates at IMG Academy. This is pure speculation, but I would be surprised if Jett waited much longer to make a decision.
